C-180. Whoops! Clear the Way!

(1) “We needed to have done something about this (or that).”

(2) “We needed to have been able to do something about this (or that).”

(3) “We weren’t even able to help to do something about this (or that).”

We needed to make a difference (1); we needed to make a difference in order to be able to make that difference (2); we needed to be able to make a difference that could make a difference in order to even help make a difference that could make a difference (3).

Backward, in history, run the functionality contingencies. For (3) the only “help” we might now be able to offer is some support … which although essential to building solutions (II: ATIT), is not what we think of -- and conceptualize roughly (C-124) -- as the “structure of process.”

It’s all about functionality, about a change-type difference in the human condition (aka ourselves), about progress in solving our problems – not just any old kind of “difference” type change(C-138) … but about new solutions that start with needed functionality (C-144) and, via Realization (App. XIX; C-111), arriving at functionality that we have developed – not just found. Not all difference-makers can be found. Some have to be made, which is why and how we got into trial and error and still engage ourselves in trial and error – i.e., the poor man’s finding out (C-73: Kt) instead of, and along with, finding (Kt).

This is about CEM-functionality (App. XI), about functionality – i.e., step making and taking, that goes beyond the limiting “is as does” notion of structure and function, in which step is just something that comes with body … and helps to identify the body.

This is about the contingent, emergent, material step … contingent on and emergent from the Nature of Thing’s needed functionality (III: “behavioral necessity”), contingent on and emergent from prior functionalities (C-115) , and material in its consequentiality (C-184) and consequents.

So: Clear the Way! Not all the wrecks have been removed from, nor the potholes filled, on the rough gravel road of life. And even driving a 300 horsepower vehicle on this road is not much help in dense fog. And we are beset with such a fog: the B-ness fog when we Read the Expansion via the B-transform and B-protocols (C-170,177), seeing the way forward in terms of particular bodies and body-body relationships -- or conditions interpreted as bodies (as objects of and by focal attention). Uncorrected (C-104,135) for the bias of the B-ness (C-39). An impediment (IV) to minding The Way (“mind” is an R-word [C-107]). This Way is about what we can bring of step making and taking to our lives (C-170: Becoming; C-177), not just what lies ahead and around us. Correction via the R-transform (C-111), retaining and adding to the functionality of the B-transform by alloy with the R-transform (e.g., developing the step < = > body interdependence), provides a fog light of sorts (see C-148: Control Central; C-121: Evolve < = > develop).

Consider the fog of B-ness as noise, impeding mind. The aptness of the R-transform can then be Read as a parallel development to applying the Fourier transform in order to produce the noise-less FM radio signal. This aptness extends to potential R- transform alloys with the language (L-) and value (V-) transforms. Their protocols now constitute and infest the fog with B-particulates.

More people => more noise. More situational problems => more noise. More forceful the behavioral problem => more noise.

Noise marks hard collisions. What is said about (WISA) – aka “communication” -- promises softer collisions. But when WISA is not up to the needed functionality of what is talked about (WITA), and/or what is called for (WICF) and/or what there is to be talked about (WTITBTA) … well, then we are going to have more and more hard collisions. More wrecks on the rough gravel road of life. Ergo: Redirect technology (C-181).
