C-230. A visit from another planet
Should Earth receive a visit from another planet, we ought to expect that a rational visitor would look first to see if anything threatening was happening here: Behavior re behavior. Step re step. Functionality (F) re functionality – and this re needed functionality (NF) should the occasion arise, as for this visit. Attend alloyed with Think: “cognitive caution.” As in this “agenda”:

Typically, however, we have viewed the Attend functionality in B-ness and B-speak terms: Observer re observed: “Or: Od.” Framing whatever turns out to be the focus of attention “objectively.” Assigning attributes to it. Picturing it thus as a relationship (combination of object-attribute and inside-outside).* If this procedural technology fails to deliver a complete picture of what is happening – and it does – we are not prepared to make the steps we need to take. And make we must. That’s life ON and AT the Frontier of the Expansion. There isn’t enough functionality to be found to meet our needs.
Thus we speak of mettle ore, of past behaviors. Behaviors many of which are cultures’ procedural technologies (e.g., traditions, customs). Behaviors too gross in step terms, in need of reduction to obtain the independent mettles with which we might and ought to compose new steps in accord with CEM principles to get the emergent, stronger steps (solutions) we need.
Something vital and fundamental is lost if we cannot reduce behaviors to steps. For the step has a “logic” with which we can understand the past and the future of behavior. It is the structure of process. And of progress. It is:

When – as seems requisite given the present human condition – it appears that we have been woefully wrong, in that our picture of the human condition is incomplete, as well as sometimes inaccurate, then we should look to our Involve, Grasp and CEM procedural technologies.
